How do we actually pray for the world? So many news headlines, social media posts, news and notes from family and friends, and all the rest… they pierce our hearts, weigh down our souls, and take up a lot of rent-free space in our brains. How do we pray for it all? How do we hand it over to God?

After all, as the nineteenth-century poet and Archbishop of Dublin Richard Chenevix Trench observed, we must not “conceive of prayer as though it were an overcoming of God’s reluctance, when it is, in fact, a laying hold of [God’s] highest willingness.”
