Hello everyone,

Welcome and blessings to everyone who has registered for the 2026 Cloverdale United Church ELL classes!

We hope that through our ELL classes, you will not only improve your English skills but also enjoy meaningful connections, friendships, and fellowship with one another.

Before we begin our classes, we would like to share a few important guidelines and information with you.

1. Donation

CUC ELL classes are operated through donations, and all of our teachers are serving as volunteers.

Your donation helps cover the cost of supplies and materials needed for the classes. It also allows us to show our appreciation to our teachers at the end of the term with a small gift and thank-you card.

Please send your donation by e-transfer using the information below:

- Donation: $60 per term, regardless of the number of class days

2. Attendance

Since our classes are made possible through the generous volunteer service of our teachers and donations, regular attendance is especially important.

Except in unavoidable circumstances, such as illness, we kindly ask that you attend your classes regularly and arrive on time.

We hope that everyone will encourage and support one another so that we can complete the full 10-week program together without giving up partway through the term.

3. Connecting with the Church Community

The ELL program is offered through the Cloverdale United Church Intercultural Ministry. Our goal is not only to help participants improve their English through classroom learning, but also to help them experience Canadian culture and practice English through various activities and relationships with members of the Canadian church community.

For this reason, we encourage you to participate in at least one church event or worship service during the term. Examples of church activities include concerts, cooking events, and potluck parties.

Please don't feel pressured. We simply invite you to join us with an open mind and enjoy getting to know the church community.

4. Different Teachers

The teachers for the Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday classes will be different.

Please also be aware that if a teacher is unable to attend due to personal circumstances, another teacher may lead the class that day.

Meeting and learning from different native English-speaking teachers can be a great opportunity to improve your English.

In particular, the Sunday 9:20–10:15 a.m. class may be taught by two or three different teachers who share the teaching throughout the class.

September 20 – November 29, 2026
No class on October 11 (Thanksgiving long weekend)

Tuesday Classes
September 22 – November 24, 2026

Thursday Classes
September 24 – November 26, 2026

Class Times

Sunday:

- 9:00–9:55 a.m.
- 9:20–10:15 a.m.

Tuesday & Thursday:

- 10:00–11:30 a.m.

Please note: A class may not be offered if there are fewer than five registered participants.
