“The God We cannot See”
A Service of the Word for the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time
October 11, 2026: IN-PERSON and ONLINE at 10:30 a.m.
Associate Pastor, Youngsun, preaching Matthew 22:1-14 and Exodus 32:1-20
This Sunday we continue our journey through Exodus and arrive at a moment of profound uncertainty. While Moses remains on the mountain, hidden from their sight, the Israelites grow restless and afraid. Longing for something visible, something they can control, they fashion a golden calf and declare it their god. Behind their actions lies a question that is familiar to many of us: How do we trust God when we cannot see God?
The story reminds us that faith is often tested not in moments of certainty, but in times of waiting. Even as the people turn away, God’s purposes are not abandoned. As we hear Exodus 3:1-20, we are invited to reflect on the ways we seek security, meaning, and reassurance, and to discover anew the God who remains present even when unseen.
