“Learning to Love God and Neighbour”

This Sunday we continue our journey through Exodus and arrive at Mount Sinai, where the God who has delivered Israel now teaches them how to live. The Ten Commandments are more than rules to follow; they are an invitation into a new way of life. Having been freed from slavery, the people must now learn what it means to live in freedom, in relationship with God and with one another.

At the heart of these commandments is love: love for God and love for neighbour. They remind God’s people that faith is not only about worship, but also about the ways we speak, act, serve, and live together in community.

As we hear Exodus 20, we are invited to consider how God’s commandments continue to shape us into a people marked by gratitude, faithfulness, and love.
