This Sunday we continue to Genesis 32, where Jacob stands on the edge of the Jabbok, carrying years of fear, deceit, and fractured relationships. Scripture often reveals who God is, and at other times who we are-and in this story, Jacob’s long night of wrestling shows both. Alone in the dark, he struggles with a mysterious presence whose name is never spoken. Yet silence does not mean absence; God is moving even when the voice is hidden. Jacob emerges at dawn with a blessing, but also with a wound that will remain. The new day comes, even as the limp stays with him.
