This season of Christmas comes to its conclusion and fulfillment on the Feast of the Epiphany, when we remember the story of “magi from the east” bearing gifts and coming to worship the Christ child. Traditionally, the story has been seen as a sign that the glory of God on show in Jesus is revealed not just to Jesus' own people, but to “all nations”. The promise of God is even bigger than that, though, for the light doesn’t only shine to us, but shines through us.
