Isaiah 65:17-25
As the annual cycle we in our tradition take through scripture and season nears its conclusion, the witness of the Word turns toward the horizons of God’s activity in the fulfillment of God’s ultimate reality… that which is yet-to-come, that which God has already established but is still making manifest in our world and in our lives. This week, such witness comes to us from near the end of the writings of the prophet Isaiah, where the promise sounds forth once again of God making all things new and reshaping all that is in alignment with the ways of God’s realm.
As we hear this witness this week, reflection on the Word will come from our children’s ministry leader, Ross Shearer, who is also enrolled in diaconal ministries studies through the Centre for Christian Studies, a joint United Church & Anglican Church learning centre with home base in Winnipeg. Ross will share reflection and witness rooted in his years of participating in and now working for Camp Spirit, one of the flagship ministries with the children and youth of our Pacific Mountain Regional Council of The United Church of Canada. Truly, in our ministries among those in their “first third” of life, God works in and through us to continue making all things new.
