Pastor Matt is looking forward to gathering once again with our community as we worship God together this Sunday, after returning from a few weeks' vacation leave.  And, as our interim musician Tim Bailey enjoys a well-deserved summer break, we're privileged to be welcoming back to Cloverdale United Church one of our former accompanists, Grace Gauthier, who will be providing musical support for this week's service.

As we continue journeying through the Gospel of Luke's account of Jesus' work and teaching as he and his disciples make way toward Jerusalem, we hear Jesus speak words both of great promise and of great challenge. In weighing the joys of discipleship against its costs, we remember the good news that stands at the foundation of it all:  "It is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom"
