The Second Sunday of Easter
This Sunday, the celebration of Easter continues... After all, even amid doubts and questions, we continue to experience resurrection!  As we continue to journey through the Great Fifty Days of Easter in the coming weeks, we'll be hearing scenes from the book known as the "Acts of the Apostles," the Bible's witness of what happened among some of the earliest Christian communities right after Jesus' death, resurrection, and ascension.  Just as the early Christians proclaimed the resurrection and rejoiced in new birth and living hope in their midst, so we too continue to live out what Easter means for us and all the world.
In our worship this Sunday, we also have the privilege of celebrating new birth and living hope in the Sacrament of Holy Baptism.  As Duncan Howland McGregor goes under the waters and has the Word of God's promise pronounced over him, the claim of God on him will become visible and tangible—a"sign and seal" by which we know the truth of God's embrace.  With joy we shall welcome this newest member of the body of Christ, the church, and pledge our love, support, and care to him as he lives and grows in Christ.
