Luke 10:38-42
16th Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week in our scripture reading from the Gospel of Luke, Jesus visits the house of his friends, two sisters named Mary and Martha, and we get to witness an intimate scene among the three of them.  The two sisters demonstrate what seem like very different temperaments and, famously, Jesus sounds like he shows a clear preference for one.  But could there be more to what Jesus is saying? Perhaps might Jesus be about the work of inviting us to step out of the confining roles and expectations that others and society-at-large places upon us, and instead step into the fullness of who we are and who we can become as people?
