Mark 10:32-45
21st Sunday after Pentecost

Continuing our walk alongside Jesus as teaches about the nature of true discipleship -- a life contrary to the perspectives and priorities of the world, a life more in line with the kingdom of God that seeks to turn our world upside down -- we hear Jesus' own closest disciples reverting back to the striving for glory and power that are so familiar to us from countless times and places in history... perhaps even from our own selves. The path that Jesus is walking, though, leads to conflict and to rejection by the powers-that-be of the world... and being a disciple of his means walking that same path too.
