“Caught in the Middle”
This Sunday, we conclude our annual journey through the church's calendar of seasons and festivals as we observe "Christ the King Sunday". Jesus is given the title of "king", even though he is nothing like an earthly king. His authority comes from the truth to which he bears witness, and those who recognize the truth voluntarily listen to him. We look with anticipation and hope toward the day when Jesus' "reign" is made known visibly and fully, knowing that his victory will be the nonviolent victory of love, grace, and liberation.
(Apologies for the lower quality video this week; we had technical difficulties with our usual livestream to YouTube, and so have had to upload the backup recording of the service from Zoom.)
