Third Sunday in Lent

You've heard that "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence," right? Often enough, though, it goes the other way, that "their" way is never as good as "our" way, right? As it turns out, whenever we set up a fence between "us" and "them," we inevitably discover that God moves over our fences. God always ends up "over there" somehow -- on the side of that thing we were trying to insulate ourselves from, over among the people we were trying to separate ourselves from. Moreover, whenever we set up a barrier or boundary so that we can make a judgment about some "other," God ends up turning the question back on us.
