Welcome Ladies to the Cloverdale U.C.W.
Did you know that all women who come to Cloverdale United Church are considered part of the Cloverdale U.C.W.?
We have 5 different “Units”, all having their own agenda, age range and interests.
Mizpah Unit is made up of the senior women and many past U.C.W. presidents. We meet irregularly for lunch or tea at Zion Park Manor, Magnolia Gardens or member’s homes. We usually have a catch up on what’s going on, a short worship and a good visit. We each put a looney in the pot each meeting and every once in a while donate some cash to the Life Membership fund or some other cause. Age range of the unit is 65 to 101 years.
Alpha Unit is a small group of women who meet once a month at the church on a Wednesday afternoon.. These women use the Mandate and Observer as basis for their devotions and discussions. They would really like some more company.
Friendship Unit (this used to be the youngest group!!). These ladies meet on Wednesday morning at the church . They have devotions, chats and most sewing projects originate from this group. These ladies are the instigators of the interesting fieldtrips held each spring. Their name says it all.
Sunshine Unit meets on Wednesday evening as many of these women still have outside jobs. Discussions used to always revert to the plus and minuses of raising children. Now it’s more about work or Grandchildren. We have had some interesting discussions that have developed from work related experiences. This is a group who love to eat and have fun.
Rainbow Unit is a relatively new unit struggling to get a firm foundation and will succeed. These women are mainly young mums so have a great deal in common. They are hoping to someday become more involved but right now it is mainly a support and social group which every young mum needs.
As you can see we have several groups of varied ages and interest. If you are interested in joining a group please contact one of the names below. When we need extra help I hope you won’t mind if we call on you, as there is a spot in our church for everyone even if it’s just that favourite spot in the pew.
