Our Minister ~ Rev. Lori Megley-Best
Rev. Lori Megley-Best joined the Cloverdale/Hazelmere family in August of 2011. She was ordained in the United Church of Canada on May 27, 2011. Lori brings the experience of serving the church as a lay minister since 1994. She has a B.Ed., an M.A. in pastoral counseling and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor.
Lori’s faith is built on the belief that God is LOVE. Love is the vehicle through which God works in the world and is where God’s power resides. Because God is Loving Presence, God yearns to be in relationship with us.
Lori’s passion lies in worshipping God. Worship time is a space and place to connect with God. Worship is a time for silence, reflection, meaningful ritual, joy and singing and an opportunity to hear God’s word and connect it to our daily lives. So we worship together in order to get to know God, each other and ourselves. Worship is a time to have a rest from our busy lives and the burdens that we carry. We bring and share our joys and sorrows and somehow, with God, make sense out of life.
Our Christian community is a space and place where all have an important purpose, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or age and stage in life. Lori believes that we grow best in our faith as we journey with others. Faith communities are some of the few places left in our culture where people of all ages get to know and care for one another.
Lori lives in Surrey with her life partner, is a mother of four sons and enjoys walking with friends at the beach. She loves getting to know people of all age groups, and believes that God has a unique intention for each one of us to help make the world a better place. When we listen to the Spirit within and without, we find out what that is.
Church Administrator ~ Janet Cliff
Janet has been a part of our staff since November 1995. As Church Administrator, she is responsible for the management of a busy church office. She handles reception, clerical and secretarial duties in keeping with the church's activities, maintaining church records, and producing the weekly worship bulletin, monthly calendar and Annual Reports. Janet warmly welcomes your inquiries about the church and its programs.

Choir Director ~ Sharon Lauzé
Sharon grew up in Abbotsford BC where she was a member of and later the director of the children's, youth and adult choirs. She was trained in voice and piano through the Toronto Conservatory, and has been directing choirs since she was a teenager, first in Abbotsford, then in Brampton Ontario and more recently Colebrook United. She has been a member of the Spirit Singers and occasionally the choir here at CUC for 7 years. Sharon made her living as an entertainer and recording artist for 13 years in Toronto before returning to BC. Sharon runs a successful music school out of her home studio teaching the Music For Young Children program and private piano lessons. She lives here in Cloverdale with her children Hunter and Sephine.
